In this class I am hoping to learn lots of things. I believe an online presence has become increasingly important in education as times have continued to change. The need to be educated in online presence began with Covid-19, the entire world shut down and schools had to manage a way to not lose out on half a semester of content. They did the incredible and managed to finish out the school year online, sure it was not perfect but it was the best that could have been expected with such uncharted circumstances. We need to be skilled in an online presence and able to work online in case something such as a global pandemic were to shut down the world, the education system still needs to continue. I also am looking to learn about different resources available to teachers online, this is vital to my future career as a teacher and will allow me to be as successful as possible.

For as long as I can remember in school we have used online resources to further our learning to something different from a lecture or a textbook. From Achieve 3000 and MathXL in elementary and middle school to teams and canvas in high school and college, my learning has always transitioned seamlessly from the classroom to online and I believe it is beneficial. Technology has become a vital part of learning since it allows students to independently research and learn more about different topics outside of school. With resources such as online tutoring available I have also found success in classes I struggled with, I was able to have concepts I did not understand explained more in depth without the pressure of asking questions in a class setting. Furthermore, new resources such as AI have been extremely helpful when they have been used as intended. Not necessarily plagiarizing a paper but more having concepts explained. I took philosophy online and was struggling to understand a concept, I asked chat gbt and was able to fully comprehend the topic with just a little research.

As a social science education major, I believe it is important to learn and grow from history. For me this would not be possible without research through library and papers being published. I also like learning more about subjects taught in class on my own time. For example, I took a religion class and wanted to learn more about a specific region so I found an expert paper posted online and felt like I understood the concept and was more educated on the topic than I was before. I also really like to do random arts and crafts, this would not be possible without the help of crafter on YouTube. I set out to make a blanket and with the help of YouTubers who post tutorials, I was successful and display it in my room. The help of endless resources online does not negate those offline. For example, one of my grandparents loves to make blankets and when I got stuck, she helped me to fix it. While there are millions of resources available to us online, it does not count for the time spent with people who know what they are doing in person.
