The standard I chose was SC.912.EET.1.7, this standard is for grades 9-12. It describes the way technology has impacted the way people create and run organizations and the way technology has come to impact day-to-day life. I believe I can implement this standard since technology has become such a major factor in schools and in the outside world. To do so I would inform students of technology we will use in the classroom and carefully make sure all students feel comfortable with the technology.
I think the resources found on the CPALM page can be very helpful for students. For example, there are lessons on there such as 'How can I pay for college', many students choose not to go to college because they do not think they can afford it. However, resources such as this provide valuable lessons for important daily matters which are not ordinarily taught in schools. Another example of this is the source titled, 'The Cuban Missile Crisis and U.S. Foreign Policy' this source describes an important event and some students may find confusion in its events, with resources such as this, students can do further research to achieve more clarity in their subject matter.
When dealing with internet research, there is a lot of misinformation out there. It is important to know how to vet the sources and ensure that what you are reading is factual and relevant especially when teaching a class. Of the search methods which were introduced to us, I believe I will use the advanced search option the most, this is the best option for me as a social science education major since I will be able to search for peer reviewed sources. Other than this, when I do my research I tend to avoid sources which use a '.com' site and lean towards '.gov' or .org'. I believe this is very important to guarantee that I am not misinforming my students.
I believe artificial intelligence can be a valuable resource in education when it is used correctly. For example, in a philosophy class I was having trouble understanding a concept so I asked ChatGBT to explain it to me which gave me a better perception of the topic. When AI is abused is when issues begin to arise, you should never ask AI to write you a paper since it is likely not going to be very good or show up as plagiarized. My initial thoughts of AI is that it is not beneficial in education, however after using it myself I have come to find it can be helpful but only when it is used correctly and taken with a grain of salt.
