In my classroom I would take copyright and fair use very seriously. I believe plagiarism is a troubling issue and very important to address as soon as it becomes something I am made aware of. To combat this, I will use software such as Turnitin to vet my students work for possible plagiarism and will address it directly. When it comes to my lessons, I will be very cautious to make sure every resource I use is within the guidelines of both copyright and fair use. I do not believe it is fair to use another person's work and write it as my own which is why I will choose to follow this very carefully. In my reading I have learned the importance of informing my students on the laws of copyright and fair use and I believe I will take this into my career to emphasize the significance of giving credit for the work of others.
I believe a technology implication issue which would be relevant in my classroom is decreased productivity. Many students do not find history very interesting so they tend to tune the professor or teacher out in favor of their favorite social media application. This leads to a decrease in productivity since students are not learning in lecture, the work required both in and out of the classroom can be hard to comprehend. In order to combat this, I will attempt to keep my students as engaged as they can be, asking questions and using other media such as videos in addition to lecture. I think if students are engaged in the classroom, they will be productive outside of it.
While working on the Newsletter design assignment I learned many new skills. I learned how to work with Canva as well as how to make my project visually appealing. Something I struggled with was saving the assignment as both a word document and a PDF however, I eventually figured it out. I can use the skills I learned from this assignment to make visually appealing infographics and newsletters for my classroom so students are more likely to actually read it. Overall, I like the final product of my newsletter and I am excited to put these skills to use in the future.
