http://bit.ly/4fmqUg3      This is a video I found on YouTube of a teacher speaking to teachers nationwide about proven practices to implement in the classroom. He is credible since he has won teacher of the year and wrote 15 books on the topic of professional development for teachers.

From the website assignment, I learned a lot. When I had tried to create websites for other classes I never liked the way they turned out and was always disappointed by the lack of an aesthetic not for a lack of trying but more so because of a lack of understanding. With all the tutorials and explanations provided for the assignment along with a step-by-step guide for each component, I was able to create a website I was happy with and ended up showing it to my friends. For this assignment, I used balance the most, when websites are scattered and unbalanced, they are confusing and can be hard to look at so I wanted to make balance a main priority. I will definitely use website design in my future classes since it can be a great resource for both parents and students.      I think a potential creative way to use QR codes would be for attendance. Students can walk in and scan the QR code and answer a question to be marked present for the day. This is a f...

Blog Journal 4 (Online)

When I first started doing the blog posts for this class, I was unsure of how I felt about it since it kind of felt like talking to a wall. From what I have seen in the past, blogs are typically published to the public and read by many people however, there is only one person reading mine but then I had a realization; I can have fun with it. I do not have to worry about being in the public eye and I can answer each prompt truthfully and hopefully without judgement. In the process I have learned how to write more casually since in theory, these would be a casual read and not a peer-reviewed research paper and I have really enjoyed the process.      A web 2.0 tool that I might use while teaching are video sharing websites such as FlipGrid and Youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/) . For a topic such as history, it can be repetitive hearing from the same person yapping about some event in time and can cause students to lose focus. When I implement the ...

The standard I chose was SC.912.EET.1.7, this standard is for grades 9-12. It describes the way technology has impacted the way people create and run organizations and the way technology has come to impact day-to-day life. I believe I can implement this standard since technology has become such a major factor in schools and in the outside world. To do so I would inform students of technology we will use in the classroom and carefully make sure all students feel comfortable with the technology.       I think the resources found on the CPALM page can be very helpful for students. For example, there are lessons on there such as 'How can I pay for college', many students choose not to go to college because they do not think they can afford it. However, resources such as this provide valuable lessons for important daily matters which are not ordinarily taught in schools. Another example of this is the source titled, 'The Cuban Missile Crisis and...

In my classroom I would take copyright and fair use very seriously. I believe plagiarism is a troubling issue and very important to address as soon as it becomes something I am made aware of. To combat this, I will use software such as Turnitin to vet my students work for possible plagiarism and will address it directly. When it comes to my lessons, I will be very cautious to make sure every resource I use is within the guidelines of both copyright and fair use. I do not believe it is fair to use another person's work and write it as my own which is why I will choose to follow this very carefully. In my reading I have learned the importance of informing my students on the laws of copyright and fair use and I believe I will take this into my career to emphasize the significance of giving credit for the work of others.      I believe a technology implication issue which would be relevant in my classroom is decreased productivity. Many...

Being a product of public school, I have only ever used Microsoft word for my processing software needs. At this point in my life, I would say I am 75% fluent in Word; to me it is the most user-friendly software available. I have tried other software such as google docs and I have found it confusing and difficult to navigate, I tend to stick with Word. I do not think I will use a different software, especially in education; as students learn their way around it and all of its capabilities, they will need the help bar and tutorials which word can provide.       I found the ISTE standard for educators very interesting. This resource is a road map for educators to be the best they possibly can. The standard I found most meaningful is standard 2.4 Collaborator, I think it is important to admit that someone may be able to help you with something you may not understand and there is a possibility to learn from everyone. Specifically, I thought 2.4 b Lear...
